Dr. Jake Frank is a trueborn Alaskan who grew up in many areas of Alaska, Montana, and Wyoming. He attended the University of Wyoming (Go Pokes) in Laramie where he received a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Kinesiology and Health. Dr. Frank then moved to Oregon to receive a Doctorate in Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry, where he met and married his wife Dr. Kara Reynolds, OD.
After graduate school, he added to his didactic knowledge and gained invaluable experience by completing a residency in Ocular Disease at the Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. He moved back to Alaska in the spring of 2010. He and his missis quickly decided that the valley is the perfect place to settle and grow their roots. Although he enjoys providing care to people of all ages, he has special interests in the treatment of glaucoma, retina, and contact lenses. Dr. Frank is a member of the Alaska Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Vision Source, and is a provider for the renowned InfantSEE program.
Aside from spending quality family time with his wife and young sons, Dr. Frank is an avid outdoors-man. He enjoys reaping all the benefits of living in the Last Frontier – especially hunting and fishing. His goal is to add aviation to his list of interests in the near future.
Dr. Kara Reynolds is a native Oregonian. She was raised in a small town in Eastern Oregon, Baker City, where she decided at a young age that she would become an eye doctor. She attended Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Oregon for her undergraduate education, and stayed to obtain her doctorate from the school of Optometry. Dr. Reynolds not only landed her degrees from Pacific, but her husband as well. After completing her schooling, Dr. Reynolds moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for her residency in Ocular Disease at the Eye Foundation of Utah. In the winter of 2009, she finally agreed to move to Alaska with Dr. Frank. She has a strong affinity for Palmer, Alaska as it greatly reminds her of the small town in which she was raised.
Dr. Reynolds enjoys providing care to patients of all ages, and has special interests in treating dry eye disease, glaucoma, contact lenses, and pediatrics. She feels grateful to have a rewarding career helping people with a variety of eye and health conditions. She is a member of the Alaska Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, Vision Source, and the renowned InfantSEE program.
Her spare time is usually spent with her husband and young boys. She enjoys doing anything involving a creative outlet (crafting, watercolor, DIYing, etc.), reading, music, and yoga. She also enjoys outdoor activities – gardening, hiking, snowshoeing and long walks on the beach.
